Secaucus Board of Education Superintendent of Schools Erick Alfonso
Dr. Erick Alfonso is an experienced superintendent of schools who has served with the Secaucus Board of Education in New Jersey since 2023. He began his career as a physical education and health teacher at Englewood on the Palisades School, followed by two years as a physical education teacher with the Union City Board of Education. He gained leadership experience as the dean of students and programs with the Hoboken Board of Education in 2018 and 2019, followed by four years as a high school vice principal and middle school principal for the Bogota Board of Education. In his current role as a superintendent of schools, Dr. Erick Alfonso is responsible for leading strategic funding efforts, coordinating curriculum improvement projects, and supporting district budget developments, among other responsibilities. He has secured over $3.7 million in competitive grants for the district.
Dr. Alfonso earned his doctor of educational leadership, management, and policy from Seton Hall University. He holds additional degrees in business administration (MBA), educational leadership (MA), and physical education and health (BA), in addition to professional certifications and licenses including New Jersey School Business Administrator Certification, New Jersey Principal Certification, and designation as an anti-bullying specialist. He returned to his alma mater, Ramapo College of New Jersey, as a graduate professor in 2020.
